The rules
of the road.

These Terms of Service govern your use of Marrow, an investment planning tool operated by Black Balloon Company (the "Service"). By using Marrow you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use Marrow.

We may update these terms as the product evolves. Material changes will be communicated via email (account mode) or a banner before they take effect.

This is the most important section. Read it slowly.

Marrow is a planning tool, not advice. The output — including portfolio assessments, tax strategy evaluations, withdrawal calculations, entity-structure recommendations, and AI-assistant responses — is for discussion purposes only. It is not:

• Investment advice or a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security.
• Tax advice. Eligibility for tax strategies depends on facts the tool cannot fully verify.
• Legal advice. Estate-planning and entity-structure suggestions are not a substitute for an attorney.
• A fiduciary relationship. We are not your advisor.

Marrow is not an SEC-registered investment advisor and is not licensed to provide individualized recommendations. Always confirm output with a qualified professional before acting on it.

You must be at least 18 years old to use Marrow. You must have the authority to manage the data you enter. You may not use Marrow for anyone else's household without their consent.

Marrow works in local mode without an account. Account mode is opt-in and adds cross-device storage.

• Keep your credentials secure. We do not see your password.
• One account per person. You may manage multiple households from a single account.
• You are responsible for activity on your account. Notify us if you believe your account has been compromised.
• We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

Marrow uses third-party AI providers (currently Anthropic via OpenRouter) for the assistant and strategy discovery. Important caveats:

• AI output may contain errors, omissions, or hallucinations. Always verify before acting.
• Citations are returned where the model performs web search, but cited sources may themselves be wrong.
• We do not guarantee AI availability. Provider outages will affect AI features.
• Your household context is sent per-request to the AI provider. Anthropic does not train on OpenRouter API traffic.

Marrow is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind.

We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, accurate, complete, current, secure, or fit for your purpose. The analyses, projections, and AI responses are based on assumptions and inputs that may not match your actual situation. Past performance does not predict future results. Tax law and regulations change.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages — including lost profits, lost data, lost opportunity, investment losses, or tax penalties — arising from your use of Marrow.

Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising from these terms is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or one hundred US dollars ($100), whichever is greater. If you have not paid us anything, our liability is limited to one hundred US dollars ($100).

You own the data you enter into Marrow. You grant us a limited license to process that data solely to provide the service to you, and only to the extent you opt into account mode or AI features.

We do not claim ownership of your data. We do not use your data to train models. We do not sell or share your data. The full data handling commitments are spelled out in our Privacy Policy.

• Do not use Marrow to attack, probe, or interfere with our infrastructure.
• Do not use Marrow to violate any law or to defraud any person.
• Do not use Marrow to generate, evaluate, or store data for someone else without their consent.
• Do not attempt to scrape, reverse-engineer, or extract our prompts, weights, or proprietary logic at scale.

You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Account. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, with notice where reasonable. On termination, account-mode data is hard-deleted within thirty (30) days. Local-mode data is unaffected by account termination.

We may revise these terms. Material changes will be communicated in advance. Continued use of Marrow after a change indicates acceptance of the revised terms. The "last updated" date tracks the most recent revision.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of these terms will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to that jurisdiction.
